Pehchaan – The Identity of Artistry

Craftsmanship lies at the heart of 11.11 / eleven eleven. The myriad of vivid artworks and the riches of traditional textile crafts are celebrated through garments handcrafted by artisans in remote areas of India. Blending natural materials and indigenous craftsmanship, our garments carry the stories of the artisans who construct these pieces with intention and heart.

Pehchaan is the signature of these artisans on our garments, leaving their mark through creative emblems that represent natural elements. The label maintains its unique handmade vision by producing small-batch, slow-made clothing in collaboration with these groups of artisans.

This arrow pehchan belongs to Smt. Santosh Ji, who is highly skilled in embroidery and garment finishing, adding thoughtful details to every piece.

Narrating tales of cultural identity and traditional significance, these handcrafted garments connect the wearer to nature, community and the deeper continuity of these artistic traditions. Craft becomes a part of the wearer’s life as much as it is a part of the makers’.

The artisans have been practicing these crafts for generations, where their everyday life and craft techniques often share the same space. A spinning wheel, or a loom, co-exists with kitchen utensils or might extend to the porch or a roof terrace. Family members often work as a team, growing their own food, breeding animals, and weaving these soulful pieces.

These craft communities have some of the smallest carbon footprints on the planet as they quietly create patterns and designs that carry history, culture and their lifestyle.

This self-sufficient model is not just inspiring but relevant as a model for living. These communities are the foundation of our value chain and are the custodians of living traditions, essential to this moment in time. Envisioning the creation of sustainable ecosystems, 11.11/ eleven eleven facilitates the use of indigenous artisanal practices in design, seeking to connect the makers to the rest of the world.

Thus, celebrating the craft-driven lifestyle, ancestral knowledge systems and precise, thoughtful artistry of these artisans, all our garments feature their distinct embroidered signatures to show that each piece is created by human hands using ancient craftsmanship that becomes part of your story as well. Discover these artisan-signed pieces in our Men’s Collection and explore thoughtfully handcrafted silhouettes in our Women’s Collection, where natural fabrics, indigenous techniques and timeless heritage come together in every garment by 11.11.
